LEAPFROG:
A POP UP EXHIBITION
Course:
Studio3_Fall 2020 | Professor: Linda Heinrich

Overview:
Create a pop-up exhibition to exhibit seven short films

Approach:
The seven films created were preliminary explorations into the possibilities for exhibition design and evolved through many rounds of collaborative design work. When deciding on a display format, I chose to highlight this collaborative process by creating an immersive environment resembling a deconstructed sketchbook for the audience to explore.
COLLABORATIVE PROCESS
EXHIBITION SITE
Anacostia Park Roller Skating Pavilion, Washington, D.C.
The roller skating rink is a place of exploration, expression through movement, and for some, collaboration and teamwork. By setting this pop-up in a venue that encourages creativity and playfulness, it can highlight these qualities that we can strive to achieve during the design process.
PROJECTIONS
As a way of presenting the creative process, I designed the projections to move throughout the pavilion, to interact with each other and engage with the space and the audience. Having projections that would transfer from one panel to another, across the floor, the columns, growing and shrinking in size, overlapping with others, and sometimes crossing over visitors, would reflect the way in which our own ideas became intertwined, borrowed, and reshaped.

This charcoal sketch was a first pass at thinking about how the projections and audience could interact. The stills from a concept video are an abstracted version of the way in which projections would move across the space and encourage visitors to follow.
