Overview:

Semester-long, cumulative assignment exploring the design process through the creation of an exhibition around an original selection of 5 objects.

 

Approach:

I chose a series of locking mechanisms— ordinary devices representative of the human need for safety and security. I navigated through this series of exercises by using my background in studio arts to create imagery and forms that would translate the emotional and physical themes found in these devices; tension, restriction of motion, and transference of control appear throughout this design.
